On Monday, April 21, 2014, the Museum of Science Boston Marathon® team will lace up their sneakers in support of Traveling Programs, which bring science programs to more than 100,000 students annually in schools, community centers, and libraries.
For 18 years, Traveling Programs has been offering outreach programs to schools, libraries, and community organizations. The program started with just three part time employees and a single inflatable planetarium used during astronomy programs. Since then, Traveling Programs has evolved into the largest museum outreach provider in New England, offering 25 different programs on a wide variety of science subjects such as chemistry, physics, weather, animal biology, astronomy, and engineering.
In the past eight years, Traveling Programs has significantly expanded, adding four additional full-time educators and two new vehicles. The program now has eight full-time educators and a fleet of six vehicles. With continued growth, Traveling Programs is able to bring affordable science enrichment programs to even more children and adults throughout New England.
This year, we hoped to raise $80,000 in support of Traveling Programs -- and with the help of many generous donors, we've surpassed it! Will you help us reach our stretch goal of $105,000? The funds raised by our marathon runners will support scholarships, program expansion, and more, and will make a huge impact on the programming we can offer.
Support the team or an individual runner with a donation today!
